The backup feature in Windows 8 is known as File
History, its function is to backup the data contained in the disk. Unlike
Windows 7, Windows 8 File History can only create backup files in user location
data such as libraries and desktop folders. If you want to create a backup
folder somewhere else, you should add it to your libraries.
After you create a File History, Windows will
keep a copy of your files regularly either to an external drive or network
sharing, it's all done automatically. If you use an external drive, File
History will start saving a backup copy again when you plug in the external
drive that you are using.
Steps to windows 8.1 backup
First plug external drive to pc / laptop
Press windows + s on the control panel and
select save backup copies of your file history
